A day in the life
This role supports Telstra Digital Platforms, Storage, and associated services to carrier grade levels of performance and availability. Contributing to growing Telstra’s customer online service transaction capability. Improved customer experience and hence improved NPS ratings for online applications and services. Reduce cost and time of customer interactions with Telstra, both for the customer and Telstra as a business.
Key Responsibilities: System Administration
  • Maintaining high availability and performance service levels within technically complex environments
  • Work effectively as a leader, technology specialist or project operative in order to produce agreed business outcomes
  • Detect & respond to customer impacting events
  • Proactively identify and drive resolution of risks across supported platforms
  • Communicate with Stakeholders, support groups, DevOps and Incident Management teams
  • Monitor alarms and manage incidents end-to-end (from creation to resolution)
  • Manage changes and organise hardware replacement activities
The skills that will encourage success in your application include:
ESSENTIAL
  • Strong relevant professional experience in IT industry and preferably with large and complex, mixed technology internet facing systems and applications
  • Operational experience in a broad range of technology areas including working with one or more of following: UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Server, NAS Storage, Oracle Databases, networking, Cloud technologies
  • Scripting skills in at least one language: Perl, Python, PowerShell, Unix/Linux Shell scripting
  • Practical experience in negotiating and in making presentations to technical audiences, including vendors.
  • Proven self-starter, inquisitive with the ability to identify and drive improvements around inefficiencies
Desirable Skills:
  • A good understanding of the ITIL framework
  • Relevant UNIX, Linux, or Windows certification(s)
  • Knowledge in data mining and analysis techniques
